Avalon offers yoga classes in a wider range of styles than most studios, led by regionally and globally known teachers. Classes followed by two asterisks (**) are fine for first-time as well as more advanced students.

Avalon is open for all regularly scheduled classes 365 days a year, including all holidays. Substitutes and class changes are marked in red and are updated daily.

Doris is currently using the class to introduce a popular integrative form of yoga well-known in India but rarely taught in the West, "Yoga Subtle Exercise" (yoga sukshma vyayama), breaking new ground in Bay Area yoga classes.

Elena is well-known for her elegant inversions and backbends (she is one of few teachers we know who can lecture comfortably standing on her hands)!



Elena has just also taken over our Wednesday and Thursday morning Vinyasa classes (9:30 am)!

Yoga Basics**



Hattie Bluestone
Beautiful new class aimed at all levels of students, from total beginners to advanced. Close coordination of movement and breath in a style that approaches a moving continuous moving meditation. Taught by Hattie Bluestone, a Harvard graduate, a long-term Avalon favorite, and a former Avalon Studio Manager. Like her famous mentor, Kelly McGonigal, Ph.D., Hattie also now teaches yoga as well at Stanford University.

Levels

Yoga classes are sometimes rated by their difficulty using a scale of 1-4. In general, level 1 classes refer to beginner classes, level 2 classes are for intermediate level students, and levels 3 & 4 are aimed at those with advanced yoga training.



  Expiration and Refund
Policies
Unlike Class Packages at nearly all other yoga studios, Avalon Class Packages never expire: They will be good even after long absences from the Studio.

Packages and Passes are heavily discounted, however, and are not transferable to others or subject to refunds.
