OM Chant with Max Strom
Fri. evening, Jan. 26th 7:45 - 9:00 pm
"Chanting Om is one of the most simple, yet
moving prayer of love I know." - Max
Chanting Om three times in a yoga class is beneficial, but chanting Om for an hour in a community of people who believe peace is possible is truly a memorable event. The personal affect is a clear calm and joyful state of gratitude for life. The ancient yogis also believed that a chant such as this reverberates through the body of mankind, helping to heal a violent world.
Appropriate for all levels of yoga practitioners.
Helpful reminders:
- Avoid eating at least one hour before chanting.
- Arrive a few minutes early.
- Leave your cellphone in your car.
Water Becomes Fire
Saturday, January 27th 2:00 - 4:00 pm
This flowing begins very gently and then builds momentum to a vigorous vinyasa session. At the apex of heat and breath we move directly into a special sequence of asanas, which bring the mind into stillness and the body into a new state of energy. This class is both challenging and very healing.
Learn to Breathe to heal
yourself and your relationships
Saturday, January 27th 6:30 - 8:30 pm
How does the way we breathe affect our stress level, quality of sleep, depression, and even our relationships? Breath penetrates, breath invigorates, and breath heals.
In this special workshop we will integrate breathing exercises, and gentle movement. The effect of these done in sequence can lead to profound release and calm. Other benefits may include increased energy and mental clarity. Once people have experienced the power of their own breath, they understand why it is called, Life force.
Helpful reminders:
- Do not eat at least two hours before practice and eat lightly.
- Dress in loose fitting clothing (example: sweats pants and t-shirt).
- Leave your cell-phone in your car.
- Arrive a few minutes early.
- Before class, inform Max of any preexisting injury or special condition.
- It is not advisable to do this workshop on the first two days of your cycle or if pregnant.
Yoga: an act of Remembrance
Sunday, January 28th 1:00 - 3:30 pm
The ancient ones teach that in the world of spirit we do not ever learn, but remember. "Our task before us is to remember who we are and what we are." Part I of the workshop will include a short talk, vigorous vinyasa flow, inversions, and breath work. Part II will be on the floor as we gently open the hips with long holds in preparation for a guided meditation on the act of remembrance.
